The musical „Mozart!“ is not just a biographic drama. It tells the archetypical story of growing up. Its hero, the musical genius and former child prodigy, has to cut the chains that bind him in order to follow his true calling. In one respect, however, Mozart's situation is unique. From the outset he has been marked as the quintessential, perfect child. It is a mark he can't erase. Even today, most people associate Mozart's music more with the image of a porcelain child rather than with that of an adult composer. On stage the cute little Amadé follows the adult Mozart like a shadow. This "phantom" figure represents the composer’s invisible genius. The little fellow composes constantly, spending most of the time at the piano or scribbling notes on manuscript paper. In the course of the play, he turns out to be less lovable than he looks.
